The Villarreal head coach was pleased with the identity shown by the Yellow Submarine
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery spoke to the media in the post-match press conference after the Matchday 6 of the LaLiga Santander season, against Sevilla FC.
Assessment of the match
“I am very happy with everything except the result. The fans came out in huge numbers today and we had the responsibility to win. The team had a lot of commitment, patience and belief and, through play, we created chances. They scored first and at that moment it was important that they didn’t score another goal. From then on we grew. I am very proud of all the players.”
About the start
“We’ve played eight games, six in the league and two in the Conference, and the balance is positive. This is the way forward. The start away from home was tough, but we got through it. The day against Betis I was more disappointed and there were aspects where I didn’t recognise the team, but today we wanted to see how we were doing against a rival like Sevilla and I’m satisfied. I’m happy with the way the team is and the identity we are creating with a view to achieving important objectives this year.”
Growth of the younger players
“We have players who are growing, but there is a journey. They bring a lot to us and we are at the stage where they have to find their form. Their contribution is very high and they must continue to gain experience. We are proud to see the process. We want to show our trust in them and continue on the journey with them.”
