Villarreal are nearly selling out season tickets for the first time ever in the centenary season
Villarreal CF has broken its historic record of season-ticket holders in the centenary season and is close to selling out season tickets for the first time in history. The Yellows passed the 20,000 season-ticket mark this Wednesday, of which 3,000 are new season-ticket holders. An exciting season, where as well as the club reaches 100 years of age, the Estadio de la Cerámica will undergo a spectacular transformation. It is the second time Villarreal have reached the 20,000 season-ticket holder mark, which it also did in the 2008/09 season.
The honour of being the season-ticket holders who saw the club reach that magical 20,000 mark fell to two sisters from Vila-real, Clara and Adriana Vidal, who after ten years away studying and working, have returned to the town to be part of the Yellows family once more. As a surprise, Villarreal footballers Alfonso Pedraza and Álex Baena went to the Gran Casino in Vila-real and gave them a special shirt to commemorate the occasion.
Last season tickets available
After passing the 20,000 season-ticket mark, there are very few season tickets still on sale, taking into account that the Estadio de la Cerámica can host 23,000 fans and that the club needs to save 2,500 seats for various commitments, UEFA and the away stand.
Should season tickets sell out, the club is considering starting a waiting list.
