

Villarreal fans had a fantastic day with plenty of matches and a cinema session
An intense and unforgettable day. Villarreal fans enjoyed a special Thursday, better known as ‘Yellow Day’. In addition to the First Team’s match against FC Steaua Bucuresti at the El Madrigal stadium, fans also enjoyed up to five other Yellows Academy matches, three of those involving the club’s EDI (Escuela de Discapacitados Intelectuales – School for the Intellectually Disabled) teams.
The Villarreal Ladies First Team started the day off strong with a 3-1 win in their local league derby against Joventut Almassora. Patri Traver’s ladies picked up a very important three points in the Second Division.
One hour later it was the turn of the Villarreal EDI teams at the PAMESA Training Ground (Ciutat Esportiva PAMESA), who played three, 30 minute matches (0-0, 3-4 and 4-4) against the Levante UD EDI teams. Smiles and goals bringing everyone together.
The ‘Yellow Cinema’ session also kicked off at 11am at the Multicines Sucre cinema in Vila-real. Little ones enjoyed the Disney film ‘Vaiana’ at a discounted price thanks to the Yellow Kids Club (Club Groguet) organization.
Then at midday the Third Division derby kicked off between the Villarreal C team and CD Castellón in the Mini Estadi at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). Carlos Pérez Salvachúa’s side lost 0-1.
The day ended in style with a thrilling grand finale at the El Madrigal stadium against Steaua Bucuresti. The Yellow Submarine put on an exciting show and clinched the win (2-1) and their qualification to the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League. A spectacular end to a spectacular day.
