The Villarreal Manager said “the main thing was to get through and we did that”
Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, sung his players praises after their hugely important win over FC Steaua Bucuresti at the El Madrigal stadium (2-1). Three points that mean the Submarine can go forward in the competition. “The main thing was to get through to the next round and we did that. We are satisfied with the result, but not for having suffered so much to get it. I’m proud of the players. I know they gave everything out there on the pitch. We should have qualified more comfortably, but we’ve got to Christmas and we’re still in Europe, on the right track to qualify for the next round of the Copa del Rey and we’re doing well in the league too”, Escribá commented.
The Submarine’s fate will be known this Monday when the draw for the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League will take place. However, Escribá is more focused on the LaLiga Santander match against Atlético de Madrid match that will be that same day at El Madrigal stadium: “I don’t have any preferences about the draw. We just want to focus on LaLiga now. Atlético de Madrid are a great team. It is going to be a very difficult match. Atlético may play good or bad, but it’s always tough to beat them”.
