Around 1,000 fans attended the Official Presentation at the Mini Estadi in the Ciudad Deportiva
Full of excitement. This evening around 1.000 Villarreal fans welcomed Roberto Soriano as a new member of the Submarine. The Presentation event, led by club President, Fernando Roig, took place at the Mini Estadi in the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) just after the First Team’s open door training session. This way, fans could enjoy watching their idols train and then welcome Soriano to the Yellows.
The fans saw their new idol close up, got autographs and even got their hands on official Villarreal gifts.
Versatility for the Yellows midfield
The midfielder was born in Germany, but he has an Italian passport and plays for the Italian national team, having represented the ‘azzurra’ in 32 matches for the youth categories and 8 matches for the Senior side.
Roberto Soriano is a versatile player who can play in centre or wide midfield thanks to his physical prowess and quality with the ball at his feet.
He joins the attack with ease and has a powerful shot from outside the box. Throughout his professional career he has scored 20 goals at UC Sampdoria and FC Empoli.
The 2015/16 campaign was his best in front of goal, as he scored 8 goals in 40 games.
Formed in the ranks of the SV Darmstadt 98 and Bayern Munich academies, Soriano signed for the Sampdoria reserve team in 2009. Subsequently, he was loaned to Empoli in order to return to Sampdoria in the 2011/12 season to play for the first team for the next five consecutive seasons.
