The French fan fell in love with the Submarine after spending summers with his grandparents in Vila-real

Eymeric Castella, Villarreal fan from Aix Les Bains (France), owes his love for the Yellows to his grandparents. When he was younger, he spent summers in their house in Vila-real: “I can say that I’ve been a ‘groguet’ since birth.” Aged five, his parents gifted him his first Villarreal shirt, which helped him fall completely in love with the club.

After having spent various months of summer in Vila-real, he was always close to the team: “From a young age, my grandad always took me to El Madrigal and to training sessions.” He also often spent holidays in a campsite in Benicàssim, which reminded him of his hometown in the French Alps, due to there being sea and mountains so close.

Due to his father’s work, Eymeric has lived in various places in Germany and France. For the past five years, he’s been working as an accountant and does not miss a single Villarreal match: “I always watch it with my dad on the TV or on the computer. We completely live each game.”

The French 26-year-old fan has tried to share his passion for the club with others: “I’m always wearing a Vilalrreal shirt. Villarreal means everything for me. I even have a tattoo paying tribute to the town and my grandparents.” He also says he wants to add a tattoo for the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League title: “It was the best thing to have happened to us.”

He also underlined that his favourite players from Villarreal history include Santi Cazorla, Marcos Senna and Bruno Soriano. However, he says the one that has always stood out for him is Juan Román Riquelme: “He was an extraordinary player, he played great football. It hurt when he left.”
