Sara Monforte’s side have reinforced the defence with the arrival of Olivia Oprea

Villarreal Women have confirmed the arrival of defender Olivia Oprea, who will join Sara Monforte’s side ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The Romanian defender, who joins from CD Pozoalbense, is Villarreal Women’s second signing, after the arrival of midfielder María Cienfuegos. The Yellows are working on building an exciting team for next season, which will see 10 players from last season continue: Salma Paralluelo, Lara Mata, Sheila Guijarro, Sara Medina, María Sanjuán, Laura Royo, Cristina Díaz, Bea Prades, Yolanda Palomino and Irene Miguélez. 

Olivia Oprea, experience and leadership for the defence

Olivia Oprea (19/03/1987, Targoviste, Rumanía) is a player with a lot of experience and competitive spirit. She is a full-back and her main talents include her ability to support the attack, as well as being excellent defensively and comfortable with both feet.

At 33, she has 107 caps for Romania. She has a lot of experience in Spanish football, having played for Liga Iberdola clubs such as Sporting de Huelva, Sevilla FC and Levante UD. She has also played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Olimpia Cluj (Romania) and Alma KZT (Kazakhstan). 

Now, Opera arrives at Villarreal CF to bring experience and leadership to Sara Monforte’s side, who will be in the Reto Iberdrola next year. Welcome Oli!
