

Portugal beat Argentina in their first match of the Olympics tournament in Rio 2016 (0-2)
Yellows Cristian Espinoza (Argentina) and Edgar Ié (Portugal) made their debuts in the Olympic Games in Rio yesterday and went head to head in a game that finished in a Portuguese victory (0-2). Both teams are in Group D along with Algeria and Honduras. Both Espinoza and Edgar Ié were starters for their respective national teams. Edgar Ié played the full 90 minutes, while Espinoza was replaced in the 72nd minute for his teammate Lo Celso.
Portugal showed their superiority in the second half of the match, when Gonzalo Paciencia scored the goal that opened the scoring with a great left footed strike from the top of the box. In the 84th minute Pité sentenced the game with Portugal’s second.
The second matches in Group D will be played on 7th August and will see Argentina face Algeria and Honduras against Portugal.
