The Manager says his side, although better in the second half, could not create chances
After the match against CD Leganés (0-0), Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, emphasized that although his team reacted well, he’s not satisfied as they struggled to create goal scoring opportunities: “Although winning is difficult, I’m not going away satisfied because we didn’t create many chances. On the bright side, they didn’t create hardly any chances either, but it’s true that for the fans it wasn’t an entertaining match, we were much better in the second half though. At the end of the day, the strikers have to do their bit, just as the defenders do, it’s a team effort. The forwards have to give us more, not just scoring goals, but creating chances, and they created very few”.
Neverhteless, the Yellows Manager said the team is ready for their next match, in which Villarreal will fight for their ticket to the next round of the Europa League. “The team is doing well, it’s difficult to win, as it is for all teams. The Copa del Rey is looking good for us, but the match against Steaua is key. It’s really important for the fans to get behind us. If we get through, and we believe we will, we can relax a bit and see things more positively. It’s a 90 minute match and we have to win. Steaua also need to win and so we have to have patience, know where we can create danger and score, but it’s also a match to not make mistakes in, especially in defence”.
