The Villarreal Manager wants to “go for goal” in the match against Real Madrid
A big challenge. This Wednesday Villarreal will visit the leaders of the LaLiga Santander, Real Madrid, with the aim of getting another win that would be the first for the Submarine at the Bernabéu (8pm CET).
The Yellows Manager, Fran Escribá, wants his team to attack against Zidane’s side: “We’ve worked hard on how to minimize the damage Real Madrid’s best players can do, but above all on the team itself. We have to go for goal. Teams that go to the Bernabéu to try and get a 0-0 draw have a very difficult job. The possibility of winning or drawing at the Bernabéu only happens if you’re brave. We will have to defend even with the ball knowing that in the moment they win it back they can cause us a lot of danger. With that said, our aim is to go for goal. If we don’t score we’ll be very vulnerable”.
For the Manager, to win at the Bernabéu is not a dream, although he knows it is a difficult job: “The team knows they are improving, but this match is of maximum difficulty. It’s true that Villarreal have never won at the Bernabéu stadium, but as they say, the statistics are there to be broken. One day it will come. We’re going to play against a team that are very good and are on an impressive winning streak, but we must believe that we can take the three points at the Bernabéu”.
Escribá affirmed that he will make changes to the eleven with regard to the last match against Real Sociedad, but always using the best of his squad: “Although there will be some changes it will be a very recognisable eleven, who will be thinking about winning this match and not thinking about the next one. There will be some changes, but I don’t like to speak too soon about line-ups. We have a great squad and the level of the players allows us to change things up. We will think about the best eleven. It will be the Villarreal that we’ve seen so far”.
