Villarreal’s head coach is satisfied with new arrivals
Villarreal CF coach Fran Escribá held the first press conference of the preseason. Escribá is satisfied with new the signings and preparation for a demanding 2017-18 season. “We have the squad we wanted. We maintain a strong team, but the club always has the eyes open to whatever happens in the market. It is a pleasure to have the group that we have. If something was missing, it was physical presence. Adrian Marin has strong presence, as do Ünal and Semedo. For us, this is important”, said head coach Escribá.
For the manager, having the team ready since the start of the preseason is fantastic. “At this point, having almost the entire roster is great. Now we are working more physical training. When Rodrigo and Semedo come, we will focus on more tactical work, but it’s okay because we are going to try many things”.
Head Coach also stressed the challenges to overcome. “I hope to improve Villarreal. Fifth is great, but I am optimistic about the evolution of the team. We’re all satisfied with the results in LaLiga, but I would like to reach as far as possible in the Cup and in European competition. We have a great team that competes at the highest level, so we will try to succeed in all three competitions”.
“I watched Semedo last year in matches against Real Madrid and I liked how he played. He is aggressive and a tough defender, just what we wanted. In addition, Ünal is a very talented player. He has great room for growth and is really fast, but he’s more of a box striker. We have players who run well like Sansone and Bakambu, but Soldado and Ünal give us a different profile”.
