The Basque manager highlighted the importance of going game by game and getting points against Celta

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media ahead of the game against RC Celta, which will take place tomorrow, Saturday 20th November, at 2pm CET at Balaídos. These are some of the key things that he had to say:

The return of the internationals

“The internationals have returned after their games, some have played more and some have played less, but they’re in a good dynamic and we’re preparing for the game with them. Those who stayed here have trained well. Yesterday we did a recovery and readaptation session. Now, they all need to change focus and put on the Villarreal shirt.”

Match by match

“Every game we need to win, and we want to focus on the next match. Celta are playing very well, better than what the table suggests. You can see their personality in every game. A lot of their players are at a high level. They will make it hard for us to impose our playing style.”

Getting points away from home

“That’s very important in terms of confidence and in terms of points to take steps towards our objectives.”

Kick-off times

“Playing at 2pm means we need to have different habits, such as eating earlier and training at that time. I think we’re going to be playing in a good temperature. We need to adapt to playing at that time, but our responsibility is to prepare for the match.”

Copa del Rey

“I’ve experienced different formats of the Copa del Rey. Increasing the number of teams so others get more recognition is something that’s really positive. All that we can generate regarding these match-ups and for them to be excited to play us is something great, and it’s good that there could be surprises.”
