The Yellows boss dedicated the win to Vicente Iborra, who was seriously injured in the last LaLiga game
Villarreal manager Unai Emery analysed the Submarine’s win against CA Osasuna (1-3) at El Sadar: “90 minutes are always really long here. We knew they were going to have their moments. They started the game by pressing us a lot, but we were able to get past that pressure and create opportunities on goal which led to our two first-half goals. It’s true that the sending off really effected them as when they attacked they were leaving space in behind and we exploited that.”
The Yellows boss praised his players’ performance, who knew how to stop a tough Osasuna side in their tracks: “They’re a team with heart, that despite the difficulties they’re going through always make it hard for you. We contained them well until the penalty. When they pulled one back they got back in the game. We have really mature players, who know how to interpret situations and we knew how to manage the demands of the game in every moment, able to find spaces and be patient and relaxed in our approach to get the third goal.”
Lastly, Emery praised Gerard Moreno’s performance, star of the show with a brace against Osasuna: “He’s a homegrown player with experience. Against Betis, he didn’t find his best form and today he got back to it. He scored two goals and played really well. He’s one to look up to for the younger players. His individual numbers help us to grow as a team.”
