Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media remotely to analyse the team’s qualification for the last 32 of the Copa del Rey after beating Zamora CF 1-4. “I’m very pleased with the team’s work. This is a competition we respect a lot, and one that excites us. It’s a tournament that can give us moments of joy. We know that it’s a short tournament, and that there can be surprised, but we’re going into each game full of respect and motivation.”
The Yellows head coach underlined that Villarreal went into the game with the focus needed: “We matched our opponent’s motivation and we put in a good performance. We prepared the game with a lot of respect for Zamora and we were able to make tactical tweaks so that they didn’t surprise us. The whole team has been really good and we good a convincing result. We want a nice journey in the Copa del Rey.”
Finally, the Basque manager evaluated Étienne Capoue’s debut with Villarreal: “He’s an experienced player. Today, we could see how he’s fit in immediately. He’s arrived match fit and is perfect for his position. He’s a footballer who will bring a lot to us.”
