The Villarreal head coach wanted to support the vice-president after the win in Granada

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse the the win over Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. The Basque head coach spoke about the importance of winning in LaLiga, the difficulty of facing the opposition, the Arnaut Danjuma show, as well as the good performance by the rest of his team-mates, while also wanting to dedicate the win to José Manuel Llaneza:

LaLiga is the aim

“We have set up and will set up in LaLiga, from Matchday 1 until 38, by using it the main path to try and get our aim to get into Europe. We are focused on trying to perform at our best every game, and be consistent, while respecting our opponents. Granada are a team, who, with their public, find themselves with goalscoring chances on a number of occasions. In the second half, they came out with the idea of going for us. When we found the third goal, they lost their hope a bit.”

A tough victory

“The opposition also play well, they have good footballers and they’re strong at home. We have to work with that. We worked hard to stop Granada’s strengths. We needed to know how to dig in and how to defender. It’s another part of football. On Tuesday, we face Juventus, a different team. It was a great game with two teams trying to win, both who needed it.”

Danjuma

“He’s a player who when he manages to show off his strengths, he’s important. He attacks the spaces very well. We’re working hard to try and find the best place for him on the pitch. He’s come back after an injury and he’s performed well. Because of the circumstances, he played the full 90 minutes. He’s an important player, like all of them. Without Gerard, we needed to have other references, like Lo Celso and Moi today.”

José Manuel Llaneza

“José Manuel is part of Villarreal’s heart. We all love him because of what he represents and how he loves Villarreal. Alongside the Roig family, he is Villarreal. We’re aware of what he’s going through at the moment and we’re supporting him. We’ve spoken on the phone. I would like to dedicate the win to him, and the tie against Juventus too.”
