The Yellows head coach was frustrated with the defeat, but underlined his side’s good performance
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared remotely in front of the media to analyse the defeat to FC Barcelona (1-2). The Yellows head coach was frustrated with the defeat, but was pleased with the good performance his side put in against a good team: “We’ve put in a good performance and we didn’t let our opponent have many chances. In the first half, we gave them more chances, but after, we were more solid. We went ahead, but they reacted well. In the second half, we managed to stop them from playing and we had more of the ball, getting closer to their goal.”
The Yellows manager also recognised that the sending-off of Manu Trigueros in the 66th minute affected the Submarine: “The circumstances of the game went against us. The sending-off affected us a lot and made it very difficult for us to get the equaliser.”
Finally, the Basque manager underlined that, despite the defeat, the game against Barça should strengthen the Yellows going into the closing stage of the season: “It’s a negative result, but I’ve got good feelings. We need to think about that ahead of the upcoming games. In Europe to keep on dreaming, and in LaLiga to keep on fighting for Europe.”
