The Villarreal CF head coach underlined that his side will have to do things very well in the derby this Tuesday (9:30pm CEST, Estadio de la Cerámica)

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery underlined that his team Will have to be at their best to overcome Valencia CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica this Tuesday (9:30pm CEST). A very important derby in the fight for Europe.

Changes in the team

“We’ve been making changes for a large part of the season, we’ve done the same in other matches and it hasn’t come off. LaLiga is the main competition, but we’ve now got a great chance in the match against Liverpool. Being in the semi-finals, and having got where we have, we know that the league match is very important, but we need to manage the squad to make sure everyone is ready. We are going to continue making changes, we will rest some players, but we will try and get the win from how we play.”

Opposition analysis

“What Valencia will do is something we’ll find out tomorrow, we are working on facing Valencia at their best. They can change things, but not their ideas. They’re a hard team to face, one who are getting results away from home. They press well and counter well, they are good at winning the second ball, and that conditions the game. We know they beat us at their home. We’re basing tomorrow’s match on respect and we are working a lot on it. We need to expect to face Valencia at their best, they are a team who are involved in tight games.”

Being strong at home

“We’ve analysed our opposition in detail, so we’re expecting Valencia to be at their best. We’re strong at home, we’re consistent. Against Athletic, we looked good. The idea is to continue being like that against Valencia, staying at the same level.”
