The Yellos head coach congratulated his team for their impressive win at the Reale Arena (1-3)
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse the Yellows’ win at the Reale Arena (1-3). The Basque manager was pleased with his players’ performance: “We created more chances than the opposition, and despite conceding the first goal, we responded. We found goals from set pieces. I’m very happy.”
For Emery, the sending off of Mikel Oyarzabal helped the Yellows in the game, despite them looking better than their opponents before the numerical advantage: “The red card helped us. We were putting in a good performance, but having an extra man gave us more ability to respond to win the match. In the second half, we had chances and we scored from a set piece again. We gave them the ball too easily and it was important to score the third to kill off the game. At the end, we did so with the last piece of action of the game.”
He wanted to praise Real Sociedad, despite the home side losing: “They’re a team who look to keep the play going. They’re a very good side. They’re a team who improve LaLiga.”
Finally, the Yellows head coach underlined that the win in San Sebastián is a morale boost: “We hadn’t won away from home in the league yet. We had to be calm in the closing stages and we were. The win gives us confidence and strengthens the work we’ve been doing. We’ve got attitude we need to have for our talent to flourish.”
