The Villarreal manager praised his players’ work rate after beating Sivasspor (5-3)

A team triumph. Villarreal CF boss, Unai Emery, underlined his side’s competitiveness in the victory over Sivasspor (5-3) in the first group game of the UEFA Europa League: “We were capable of beating our opponent and that is due to the great work our team put in. We knew how to combine our players to set up with a starting elven with youth and experience. What’s more, were were capable of competing as we were winning, but we can’t let our guard down because the Turkish side punished us in different aspects of the game.”

The Yellows boss positively evaluated his less regular players’ contributions: “We have to put them in favourable conditions so they can fit in smoothly with the rest of the group and this is a responsibility that we have to understand. In tonight’s game, they showed a good predisposition and we are delighted that they brought their skills to the first team.”

Lastly, Emery praised Paco Alcácer for his brace: “I wanted to go for the experience of Alcácer to get a goal. In the second half, we went for him to look to get in behind their back line and he was the deciding factor on the night. We are here to help him find new challenges both collectively and individually.”
