The Yellows head coach underlined that Villarreal put in a complete performance and dream of having a good season in the Copa del Rey
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the press to analyse the Yellows’ win over CD Tenerife (0-1), and the qualification for the Copa del Rey Round of 16: “We’ve started the Copa del Rey full of excitement. Each round it’s more difficult. We knew that Tenerife were a tough opponent, but we put in a good performance. The win is fair, but you need to recognise that Tenerife put in a great performance too.”
The Yellows manager underlined that it was a tight game, despite the away side’s superiority: “We knew that a lot of things could happen in 90 minutes. In the first half, we lacked fluidity in the final third, but we stopped the counter-attacks well. In the second half, we were more dangerous going forward. The game was with us, but they had chances to win it too.”
Finally, the Basque coach highlighted that the Copa del Rey is a tournament that the Yellows are excited about: “It’s a competition that we respect a lot, in which we want to have a good journey. We know that every round it’s more difficult, but we’re excited.”
