The Mini Submarine remain unbeaten at home after a draw against CD Leganés
Villarreal B, despite some key players missing, earned an important point against CD Leganés (0-0) thanks to their solid defensive performance. A point that consolidates them in that privileged mid-table position.
The Yellows went into this game with the ambition of taking the three points, which would be vital to keep them in the middle of the table. Miguel Álvarez’s men did not control the early stages of the game due to the visitors’ pressure, which was not converted into chances either.
As the minutes passed, the Yellows settled into the game. They regained control of the ball and began to defend higher up the pitch, preventing Leganés from getting forward. Even so, the game went on without a hitch. Both teams went into the break with the scores level and without any clear chances for either side.
The second half remained the same as the first. The game was very tight, with no clear dominance from either team. In the 61st minute, Ojeda and Pacheco made their first substitutions for the Yellows, to give the home side some fresh air.
It was in the 65th minute when the first clear chance of the match came. It was Leganés’, after a shot against the post by Juan Muñoz and a follow-up shot by Arnaiz that came close to being a goal. Villarreal B reacted very well and Pacheco had a chance to make it 1-0 after a scramble in the box.
With just a few minutes left on the clock, Miguel Álvarez’s men put the visiting goalkeeper in trouble after a great play between Pacheco and Lozano. The match ended with both teams sharing the points after the 0-0 draw. A very even game with very few chances that had no clear favourite, however, it extended the Mini Submarine’s unbeaten run at home.
Villarreal B’s next match will take place on Wednesday 7 December at 19pm CET at Cartagonova against FC Cartagena.
