The Mini Submarine draw against Atlético Sanluqueño thanks to a goal from Etta Eyong
Villarreal B earned a hard-earned point on their visit to El Palmar against Atlético Sanluqueño (1-1). The Yellows’ goal came from Etta Eyong, who has now scored 17 times this season.
The first chance of the game fell to the Yellows. Víctor Valverde, who was returning to his old home, dribbled inside the box and unleashed a left-footed shot that was saved by Samu (m. 9).
The game entered an evenly matched phase in which chances were at a premium. It was not until the 41st minute that we saw an approach with some danger. Joseda’s shot from the edge of the area went over.
In the second half, Atlético Sanluqueño took the lead through Sofiane. His goal was preceded by a possible foul on Cristo on the left flank, but the referee did not see it like that and that allowed the ball to reach Atlético Sanluqueño’s striker to score (1-0, m. 57).
Villarreal B equalised thanks to their top scorer. Etta Eyong twisted and turned in the box and scored with a toe-poke that Samu could do nothing about (1-1, m. 73). It was his 17th goal of the season. Lethal.
Ten minutes later, Pavón was sent off. The player, who had just entered the field, made a dangerous tackle on Etta Eyong and was shown a straight red card.
Despite the numerical superiority, the Yellows were unable to score the winning goal.
Villarreal B’s next game will be at the Mini Estadi against Intercity (Friday, 8:30pm).
