Marcelino has asserted that his team has improved in many aspects over the last few games
Villarreal CF head coach Marcelino García spoke to the media in the press room of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about tomorrow’s match against Deportivo Alavés at Mendizorroza, which kicks off at 2pm CET on Saturday.
“I’m expecting a very difficult game. Deportivo Alavés are a strong team at home, with great direct football and a lot of participation from the players out wide. They have a player, Samu, who is performing very well for them throughout the season and he put in a great performance against us in the first game against them this campaign,” commented Marcelino.
The Yellow Submarine will be looking to continue the good run of results and, above all, play and sensations that Marcelino’s side have accumulated in recent games, something that the coach from Gijón insists: “We are better in all aspects of the game. We’ve dropped points in the games against Cádiz and Mallorca that I think we deserved, but we’re an increasingly solid team from a defensive point of view.”
Marcelino also insisted on the importance of being intense in a game like tomorrow’s: “Giving everything is our obligation. Maximum effort is non-negotiable. The game will be decided by the smallest details, being strong and accurate in the penalty area. There are fewer and fewer games left and draws help, but victories help you make a bigger jump in the table.”
Marcelino García Toral has already been able to count on Bertrand Traoré this week, the Submarine’s latest winter signing, of whom he says: “He still needs to adapt. He’s coming from a different competition, he’s not playing much and he needs to get up to the same physical level as his team-mates.”
