The Dements Marathon beats its own record
The Dements Marathon celebrated its sixth edition in style, including a record. The runner Manuel Merillas, 28, beat the top record of this demanding event held between Aín and Eslida. Merillas stopped the clock in an impressive time of 5.11.48 hours, which was four minutes and ten seconds less than the previous record. For the females, it was Nerea García who was crowned champion, with a time of 7.31.12 hours.
Around 800 runners participated in the Dements Marathon, the Eslida Half Marathon, and the Aín Half Marathon. Almost a thousand people were put to the test on the very demanding trail, which has a positive and negative elevation of 3808 metres.
TAU Castelló loses against their opponent CBC Valladolid
TAU Castelló lost away from home to CBC Valladolid, a tough rival who is yet to be defeated at home in Pisuerga. The provincial team competed against the Valladolid team, who dominated play in the second quarter. Wade-Chatman, former Valladolid player was the top scorer for the Castellón team (20 points).
Carmen de Castelló is triumphant in the semi-finals of the Campeonato Autonómico de Raspall
Carmen de Castellón and her partner Aina won in the first semi-final of the Campeonato Autonómico de Raspall pairs event in the second division. In a hotly contested match, the pair won against the Montserrat team 20-25, which gives them a slight advantage going into the second leg and therefore allow them to play in the final.
On the other hand, they also played in the Galotxa semi-final in the top flight, but in this case they will not progress to the final after losing to Algimia.
Diego de Onda, regional champion in the One Wall pairs event
The pilotari Diego de Onda and his partner Juan Carrillo have been crowned regional champions in the final of the One Wall youth pairs event which took place in Tavernes Blanques.
UBE L’Illa-Grau falls to Vecindario ACE Gran Canaria
UBE L’Illa-Grau could not stop Vecindario ACE Gran Canaria from taking the victory in the Ciutat Esportiva de Castelló pavilion and lost with a final score of 1-3 (20-25, 25-20, 22-25, 18-15). The team, managed by Marcelo de Stefano, did not live up to previous performances and conceding another defeat means they leave the top-5 in which they were placed and drops several positions in the classification of the men’s Superleague.
Mistakes condemn Bistones Castellón to defeat
Bisontes Castellón loses in Antequera, despite playing a great game. The team from Castellón had a number of opportunities to obtain a positive result during their visit to Andalusia. However, the errors and lack of wise decisions lead to the provincial team picking up a heavy defeat against UMA Antequera (4-0).
Servigroup Peñiscola loses in Pamplona and remains unsuccessful away from home
The players from Baix Maestrat still haven’t won away from home this season after losing against Xota in Anaitasuna (3-2). Juanlu Alonso’s team played one of their best games of the season away from home, but they were unlucky in front of goal, in a game which they deserved more. Osasuna took their chances and were awarded with the win in front of their fans after three straight defeats. The goals came from Isi and Dani Montes.
Óscar Pinto wins the ITF Junior in La Nucia
Oscar Pinto Sansano won the ITF Junior in La Nucia, Alicante, a tournament organised by Ferrer Academy, after defeating the Lithuanian Vilas Gaubas in the final 6/1 6/4. A great week for the sportsman from Castellón who came out on top in the semi-finals against the number one seed, the Latvian Daniel Morozov, 6/3 5/1, and defeated Alex Padró in the quarterfinals 6/0 6/3. The ex-tennis player David Ferrer presented the trophy.
Thanks to the 30 points gained, Pinto will make a big jump in the junior world rankings.
