The B team played well but a point slipped away from them in the last minute
Villarreal B lost in the last minute against Levante UD (2-3). The Yellows played a great game, competing tooth and nail against one of the best teams in the division, although the Mini Submarine were unlucky to lose from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.
The Mini Submarine welcomed the side from Valencia, who arrived at the Estadio de la Cerámica in the midst of the battle for promotion to the top flight and accompanied by a large number of Levante fans.
Right from the kick-off, Levante showed great efficiency and took the lead. Bouldini broke through the yellow defenders and found himself in front of Gianni, whom he beat with a low shot.
The goal did not affect the spirits of Miguel Álvarez’s team. The Yellows bounced back before the half-hour mark, scoring the equaliser. Álex Millán headed home a fantastic cross from Javi Ontiveros from the left flank.
The joy was short-lived, however, as five minutes later, Joni Montiel’s fierce drive from the edge of the area was touched by Gianni, but ended up going into the Mini Submarino’s net. With the score at 2-1, the game went to the break.
In the second half, Villarreal B took the field with the firm objective of equalising. The Mini Submarine tried hard at from the start with Álex Forés having a chance to score.
In the 66th minute, Álex Millán was awarded a penalty after being brought down in the box following a great personal move down the right. With cold blood and a panenka style shot, Ontiveros made it 2-2.
In the last minute, Del Moral committed a penalty on Joni Montiel. The midfielder was sent off and the Levante player scored the third goal, from a rebound, after Gianni originally saved the spot-kick.
Levante UD took all three points against a brave Villarreal B side with courage and a lot of heart.
