The Yellows fall after a strong start from the visitors (1-3)
Villarreal B were beaten 1-3 by Atlético Madrileño at the Mini Estadi in a match where the Yellows were unable to stop the visitors’ blistering start. Despite the home side’s effort and determination, the early momentum of the Madrid-based team proved decisive for David Albelda’s men.
The visitors came out flying and took the lead after just three minutes. A move down the right ended with Kostis putting Atlético Madrileño ahead.
Every attack down the wings posed a threat, and Boñar made it 0-2 after a quarter of an hour. Still reeling from the second goal, Villarreal B conceded a third five minutes later when Arnau found the net.
Despite the setback, the Mini Submarine responded well. On the half-hour mark, Álex Rubio latched onto a through ball, got in behind the defence and rounded the goalkeeper to pull one back.
In the second half, Albelda’s side pushed hard and came close to getting back into the game with chances for Álex Rubio and Viveros, but the scoreline remained unchanged.
The Mini Submarine’s next fixture will once again be at home, on Saturday 11th October, against Betis Deportivo (Mini Estadi, 2pm CEST).
