Villarreal CF captain, Mario Gaspar, emphasises his side’s desire to compete

Villarreal CF right-back, Mario Gaspar, says his team are eager for the upcoming league fixtures: “We all can’t wait to get back to competing, but we know we’ve got to take it one step at a time. We’re ambitious and we want to go as far as possible.”

Likewise, the Yellows captain stressed the importance of the derby against Valencia CF (Sunday, 4pm CEST): “We have a derby in front of us and it is always good for the team and the fans to win these games. Above all, it is a game to keep growing and improving. We are all going to fight as one to get the three points.”

Mario has racked up 373 minutes in five games performing at a very high level in recent games. “I’ve played really well in the last two games and that has given me confidence. Now I’m focused on working hard so I can keep competing to a high level on the pitch”, he guaranteed.

The Submarine’s full-back also took the chance to analyse the squad: “The team has been strengthened very well. Important players have left and others have come in ready to work hard for the team. I think we have a sufficient squad to contribute positive things.”

Lastly, the Yellows captain hopes to be able to see the fans back in the stands at the Estadio de la Cerámica soon: “We miss the fans and we hope they can return to the stadium soon. We want everything to go back to normal so we can enjoy these moments with our fans.”
