Quique Setién and Yeremy Pino underline that Villarreal will aim to get a win in Poznan
Villarreal CF head coach Quique Setién and winger Yeremy Pino appeared in front of the media this afternoon in Poland ahead of the last group stage match of the UEFA Europa Conference League (Thursday, 9pm CET), underlining that the team will aim to win, even though they are already guaranteed top spot in the group
Quique Setién: “We will be intense to grow”
“We are going to put in the intensity. This match is very important for us and it will help us to grow in the things we want. We have little time before the break. But this is a test that is more important than the result, which is important for the prestige of the club and we have to maintain that prestige. We will do everything we can to win the match.”
Necessary time
“There is something emotional in a team that is doing well and this causes a shock. It is common to change when things are going badly and then a coach arrives who wants and asks for different things and it takes time. There are many changes and I see a good predisposition but there is a lack of work and time and a process of assimilation.”
Satisfaction
“I am happy with what I have seen. In Bilbao we played a very good 40 minutes and in the second half we dropped off because we were up against one of the most intense teams in the league. It’s normal that we ask for different things than before and it’s necessary to adapt to a different way of playing. We barely have time to work, playing a game every three days and now comes the break and I hope we can work with the group for longer.”
Yeremy: “We’re taking the boss’ ideas on board”
“We have to pick up the nuances that the coach asks of us, even though we have already done our homework.”
A complicated first meeting
“They started off winning and made it very difficult for us. They took the lead and it was difficult to turn the game around. In the end Coquelin scored and we were able to win the game. In Europe every game is difficult.”
The needs of the opposition
“We are thinking about ourselves and the fact that the game is difficult can help us to compete and to adapt to the style we are playing with Quique.”
Personal adaptation
“I try to adapt to what the coach tells me and if he puts me in midfield, then I will play in that position. I hope to improve with his help, I have no other objective.”
