Escribá emphasises the difficulty of the Málaga match, a “tough and well strengthened” rival
Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, emphasised the challenge that awaits the Yellows in their league clash against Málaga (6:15pm CET, La Rosaleda stadium), as the Andalusian side, in the Manager’s words, have known how to put together a very competitive team over the last few months: “We expect a very tough match, Málaga have experienced players and they are a team that aspire to stay up easily and aim for a mid-top of the table finish”. The Manager believes they are stronger on the wings for signing Keko and Jony. “In addition, they have managed to keep Camacho, who gives them a lot of balance and strength”.
Furthermore, Escribá also talked positively about the last couple of weeks of training, in which he has been able to spend more time with the group. “We have been able to work and I think that has been good for all of us. At least we have been able to train properly as before this we have just been doing pre and post-match sessions”, he commented. “In the end the coaches need time. Everything has happened really quickly, but I’m happy and these weeks have been really good”.
“Villarreal is a family orientated club and, at the same time, very professional”
The Yellows Manager also talked about the last two matches and how well Villarreal has done these past few years: “I liked the club from the first day. We haven’t got the good results yet, but it is a family orientated club and at the same time very professional. It’s no surprise what the club has achieved these past few years, because the people here are very prepared”, he stated.
Finally, he highlighted the “very good” identity of the club and the high demand expected from within: “The draw was a bad result for a team that aspires to what we aspire to. The demand from this club is to win at all grounds. Although we might be changing the style of play, it will never be an unrecognisable Villarreal. What I want to do is to strengthen the good that we already have”.
