Yellows fans have chosen the midfielder as last month’s best player
Samu Castillejo is the winner of the Mahou Five Star Player (Jugador Cinco Estrellas) award. The midfielder has been chosen by Villarreal CF fans as September’s best player for his great level of performance in every game so far this season, not to mention the superb goal he scored against Real Betis at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Mahou, sponsor of the Yellow Submarine, promotes this award.
The 22-year-old footballer was very grateful upon receiving this award: “It’s always nice when the fans recognise you work. We’re on a good run at the moment and I just hope we can keep going like this to give the fans lots of joy. With the support they give us each match, they are a fundamental part of this award that I’m picking up today and I’m extremely grateful to them. Now we have two games in a row at home against Slavia Prague and Las Palmas and our fans will be key once again”.
The way to choose the Five Star Player is simple. Every month, fans vote via Twitter for who they think has been the team’s best player. To do it correctly, users have to tweet the name of their chosen player with the hashtag: ‘#Jugador5EstrellasCVF’ during the set time period time. Once this time limit is up, votes are counted to determine the winner.
Through this initiative, Mahou Five Stars (Mahou Cinco Estrellas) announces the stand out player for each month. The prize is awarded by the fans, who cast their votes on Twitter; specifically on the ‘@futbolmahou’ profile, with the collaboration of the Villarreal CF official Twitter account (@villarrealcf).
