The French midfielder promised to work hard for Unai Emery’s side and underlined his excitement at playing in LaLiga
Étienne Capoue was presented as a new Villarreal player this lunchtime in a remote press conference in which the club’s CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, welcomed him and wished him the best of luck playing for the Yellows.
In his first words as a Yellows, Capoue underlined that playing for Villarreal was a great opportunity for him: “I’m very happy to be here in Vila-real. Playing in this team and competing in LaLiga is a big step in my career. I’m here to help and try and bring the best of me to the team.”
The French midfielder hopes for a positive second half of the season and hailed his new team: “This is a club with a great history, with very good players and a great coach. I think we’re going to have a great season and my experience here will be very positive.”
Regarding his aims, Capoue underlined that his dream would be to play in the Champions League for the Yelows: “I want to give my all for this team and be important for Villarreal. I would like to play in the Champions League. I’ve never done that and I would like to have that chance with this club.”
Finally, the France international defined himself as a player: “I’m a defensive player who tries to win the ball back and my positioning on the pitch is important. Despite that, I try and break lines when I have the ball.”
