The Villarreal manager says the team will go for the win against Eibar to finish fifth
Villarreal will try and end the season in the best way possible. The Yellows will look for the win against SD Eibar at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Sunday, 6:30pm CEST), which would ensure them finishing fifth in the table. Head coach Javi Calleja underlined that it will be a tough, but a game to enjoy. “We are going to go for the three points. We depend on ourselves and we will take to the pitch to try and get a win in the last match. It’s a game to enjoy. We will try and be at our best, knowing that fifth is still at stake. We want to end the season with a good taste in our mouth. It would be the cherry on top of a great season. It would be really worthy and would be the best present. To do so, we need to be ourselves and we can’t relax. Saying that, we will enjoy a match without pressure. We’ve reached our aim and now all that’s left is ending the season in fifth.”
With regards to the game against Eibar, Calleja warned about their strengths: “Our opponents will come having done their homework, and also with the pressure off. I know Mendilibar, and his team will be intense. Let the best team win.”
To conclude, Calleja said the match will be special for a lot of reasons: “It’s a special game because there could be players who won’t pull on the Villarreal CF shirt again. They’re emblematic players for this club. Both Bruno and Cazorla are professionals. They deserve a great send-off. Now it’s them who will have the final words. We will do everything for it to be a great match for those who aren’t staying.”
