The Villarreal manager expects a game between two good sides against Sevilla
Villarreal have three wins in a row since the restart of LaLiga, but they want more. Yellows head coach Javi Calleja expects an exciting match against Sevilla FC at the Estadio de la Cerámica tomorrow (7:30pm CEST, LaLigaTV in the UK). “Beating Sevilla would let us have great aspirations, but they are an extremely tough opponent, they have one of the best squads in LaLiga. To beat them you need to play the perfect match. It’s a difficult, but exciting, challenge. There’s a lot to play for and I am sure that it will be a game between two great sides,” he said.
For Calleja, fatigue shouldn’t be an issue: “It will be the fourth game in ten days, so there will be tiredness both mentally and physically. We’re getting good results, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any fatigue, and we will need to put a shift in between everyone to get the best result possible. Starting well is extremely important and that means you believe, and when you believe, you have that little bit extra. We have a squad to fight for any aim. We’re solid, we’ve improved and we’ve known how to defend leads, which has helped us be in the fight for the European places.”
The good run the Yellows are on isn’t a coincidence: “Everything has an influence, good preparation, the players being excellent, responsible professionals, the hard-work from these past few weeks, first of all separate and then all together. And that everyone was convinced there were enough points to play for to get what we want. We knew that if we didn’t concede, we could win a lot of games,” Calleja concluded.
