The manager today took charge of his 100th Villarreal match
Javi Calleja is now a centenarian on the bench of the Villarreal first team. The manager reached this magic number during this afternoon’s game against Athletic Club at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
In all competitions, Calleja has now taken charge of 100 games at the helm of the Yellow Submarine, having won 40, drawn 27 and lost 33 (161 goals scored and 127 conceded).
The manager is the head coach who has taken charge of the fourth most matches in the top flight of Spanish football (76), after Manuel Pellegrini (190), Marcelino (114) and Víctor Muñoz (77).
Calleja is currently the manager with the third most LaLiga victories for Villarreal (31 in 76 matches). Only Marcelino (51 in 114 games) and Pellegrini (92 in 190) are ahead of him in terms of top-flight wins while in charge of the Yellows.
