The three footballers, made in the Yellows Academy, have passed the 400-game mark with the Yellows
There are very few footballers who can say they have played more than 400 matches for the same club. At Villarreal CF, only Bruno Soriano, Manu Trigueros and Mario Gaspar have that privilege.
The three players, made in the Yellows Academy, have become emblems for the Submarine, putting their names at the level of other club legends such as Marcos Senna and Santi Cazorla.
Manu Trigueros and Mario Gaspar are two of the current Villarreal captains, and have worn the captain’s armband that former skipper Bruno Soriano wore for many years. Bruno’s 425 matches as a Yellows have been for a number of years the most of any player. Now, Trigueros has equalled his former team-mate, while Mario is just one match behind them.
The three players have a long joint trajectory at Villarreal. They shared a dressing room for a number of seasons and they have a great friendship. “We’re friends. We get on really well and we always meet up. I’m very happy to continue making history with my club, Villarreal. Both Mario and Manu have been at the club for a number of years, and it’s incredible what they’re experiencing,” explains Bruno, who is proud of his former team-mates.
Neighbours in Benicàssim, the three footballers often meet up. “The three of us live in the same area. When I take the dog out, I see Bruno and Mario. We also meet up to eat a lot,” says Trigueros.
In elite sport, it’s complicated to see cases like the three Yellows legends, who have helped Villarreal consolidate their sporting project: “Seeing how the club has grown year by year is impressive. Last year we managed to win the Europa League. Being part of this is really gratifying, as is being able to share so much with team-mates like these for so long,” added Mario Gaspar.
Bruno Soriano, Mario Gaspar and Manu Trigueros, have found a friendship through football and share a commitment to and a passion for Villarreal CF. Normal people, with an impeccable professional trajectory representing the Yellow Submarine.
