The Italian defender will continue with the Yellows for the upcoming campaign

Villarreal CF have reached a new contract agreement with defender Daniele Bonera, which will extend his time with the Yellows for another season. For the Italian centre back, who arrived at the club in the summer of 2015, it will be his fourth season as a member of the Yellow Submarine crew.

Just as essential on the field as he is off of it, Daniele Bonera (Brescia, 31st May 1981) had a spectacular 2017/18 season, during which he played more minutes than in his previous campaigns at the club. At 37 years old, with the confidence of Javi Calleja and a lot of experience, the Yellow number 23 is as excited as ever to keep growing with Villarreal CF.

Bonera has had an outstanding career, with more than 300 appearances in Italian football and participation in all continental competitions. A seasoned international with Italy, Bonera was born in Brescia, where he made his debut for the the first team (1998/02), he then went on to play for Parma FC (2002/06) and for nine seasons he wore the AC Milan shirt (2006/15). Since his arrival at the Yellow Submarine in 2015/16, he has played 47 matches (35 in LaLiga, 10 in the Europa League and 2 in the Copa del Rey).
