Pacheta has highlighted the importance of the match against the team from Bilbao for Villarreal’s aspirations (Sunday, 6:30pm CET)
Villarreal head coach, José Rojo ‘Pacheta’, appeared before the media to analyse the current situation of the Yellows and to preview this Sunday’s clash against Athletic Club (6:30pm CET).
“We are Villarreal and we have to win every day. That’s the requirement. Although we know that we are playing against a big team with great strengths,” declared Pacheta energetically in one of his first interventions.
In the same vein, the Yellows head coach affirmed that his team has grown as a result of their recent victories (against Granada and Chiclana): “Victories solve everything. You grow from the victories. The team is better. The feelings tell us so, but also corroborate some of the data we have. However, we need to keep improving and polishing some mistakes. We need to be decisive and not allow our opponents to get through easily.”
Regarding the match, Pacheta stresses that the match against Los Leones could be a turning point in the Submarine’s direction: “This match is very important. It could be the game that gives us continuity in what we are doing and puts us in a position that allows us to look upwards and forget about the bottom of the table”..
To achieve this, Pacheta knows that there is only one way forward and that is to win: “We have to win. There’s no other way. It’s the objective we’ve set ourselves. Granada was also a very important game and we achieved it. Now we have another fantastic opportunity to get into the fight with Athletic.”
In the same way, the head coach from Burgos puts the focus on preventing the rival transitions, being intelligent and acting with forcefulness: “We can’t lose balls and if we do lose them, we must be armed to pause their fast transitions. They have very dangerous, fast and physical players. We have to be clever with the people up front. They do simple things, but it’s difficult to stop them. We have to be smart and forceful.”
Finally, Pacheta took the opportunity to send a message to the fans: “I ask the fans to do the same as they did against Alavés. When we suffer the most is when we need them to be with us the most. The players are the first to want to win and it’s vital that we all go together towards that goal. We are improving on the ball and little by little we will generate more chances and score more goals so that our fans can enjoy the team.”
