The Villarreal striker scored for his DR Congo against Libya (1-2)
Villarreal’s French-Congolese striker, Cédric Bakambu, continued his fine form in yesterday’s win for the Democratic Republic of the Congo against Libya (1-2). The Yellows number 17 scored the first of his country’s two goals in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier. Bakambu started the match and played 83 minutes, when he was substituted for teammate Luyindama. Bakambu added to his spectacular goal scoring streak as of late, after scoring a hat-trick against SD Eibar in the last LaLiga Santander match played at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
One of the other players who stood out for his country was Antonio Rukavina. The Villarreal number 22 started for Serbia against Austria in another World Cup qualifier which the Austrians won 3-2. Rukavina played the first 69 minutes of the match, when he was replaced by Ljajic. The game’s goals were scored by Arnautovic, Burgstaller and Schaub for Austria and Matic and Milivojevic for Serbia.
For their part, Carlos Bacca (Colombia) and Enes Ünal (Turkey) did not step onto the pitch for their respective national teams. This Tuesday 10th October, it’s the turn of Rodrigo and Fornals, who will represent Spain U21 against Slovakia (8:30pm CEST).
