The number 17 received the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month award for October
More than deserved. This afternoon, prior to kick-off against Sevilla FC at the Estadio de la Cerámica, Cédric Bakambu was presented with the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month award for October. Bakambu scored six goals against SD Eibar (3), FC Girona (2) and UD Las Palmas (1) last month, which have been vital for Villarreal to put together a good run of results and have deservedly earned the number 17 this recognition by LaLiga. Bakambu was presented with the award by former Villarreal CF captain and current member of the club’s Institutional Relations department, Marcos Senna.
Cédric Bakambu really has become the Submarine’s ‘goal machine’ since he arrived at the club back in August 2015 from Turkish side Bursaspor. In the two seasons since his arrival, the French-Congolese forward has been the top goal scorer for Villarreal CF. In the 2015/16 season he scored 22 goals, and in the 2016/17 season he scored 11 goals. So far, Bakambu has netted 12 goals in the current campaign, making him the team’s leading goal scorer for the third consecutive season as it stands. During his time at Villarreal CF, Bakambu has scored 45 goals and provided 6 assists for his teammates.
