Sansone returned to play after more than three months out injured and scored in the win vs Las Palmas
A dream comeback. Villarreal CF’s Italian-German forward, Nicola Sansone, returned to the field of play yesterday against UD Las Palmas and did so by scoring the decisive second from the penalty spot (0-2). The Yellow number 18 had not played a match since 30th November 2017, when he sustained an injury in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 tie against SD Ponferradina at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Three months and eleven days later he is back on the pitch. “I’ve suffered throughout these past three months, but in the end with patience and the help of my family and the medical staff I’ve done it. I’m very happy”, Sansone stated.
For the attacker, the goal he scored should be the starting point to get back to his best level: “Now I have to get back in form. I was really looking forward to scoring again and for the team to get back to winning. That’s the most important thing”.
