The Colombian striker explains the #CuentaConmigo charity campaign, launched by the club, the men’s first team and the Fundación Carlos Bacca to collaborate against the COVID-19 pandemic

Villarreal forward Carlos Bacca appeared on Villarreal TV to go into details about the #CuentaConmigo initiative that the club has launched, alongside the men’s first team and the Fundación Carlos Bacca, to help those with scarce resources and at risk of social exclusion and guarantee them basic alimentation, working with Cáritas Vila-real.

The Yellows forward highlights the wishes of the club and all of his team-mates to be able to help in this healthcare crisis that is happening in Spain due to COVID-19: “We have the chance to help and we want to do it. Give a helping hand to those nearby. It really satisfies us that we can help the people of Vila-real who most need it, thanks to this initiative by the club, my team-mates and the Fundación Carlos Bacca.”

As the Yellows No.9 describes, thanks to the #CuentaConmigo campaign, “more than 200 daily meals will be prepared at the Estadio de la Cerámica so that Cáritas Vila-real can give them to those people that need them, and, furthermore, free of charge, the club will put its restaurant services to the disposition of groups like doctors, nurses or polices, who are fighting this pandemic without a rest.”

The Colombian striker also explained the work that the Fundación Carlos Bacca carries out in his home country: “We founded it in 2013, but, we’ve been working, with the help of my wife, since 2010. It’s a charity with a base in Puerto Colombia, where I’m from. There, we help the people who most need it from our neighbourhood. What’s more, we recently created CD Carlos Bacca, a football team with 60 children, who we help them with football, but mainly with personal growth. From the charity, we always want to help and we’re open to doing so.”

Finally, the forward has asked his fellow countrymen to follow the recommendations of the medical authorities and sent a message of support to the millions of Spaniards who are making personal sacrifices to fight the difficult moment our country is in: “We need to continue taking precautions and let the medical professionals work. We will get out of this situation and it’ll make us stronger than ever.”
