The Villarreal goalkeeper spoke about the controversial refereeing decision that stopped Villarreal from equalising against Real Betis
Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo spoke about the team’s form after losing the last LaLiga game to Real Betis (1-2): “They’re moments of the season that you have to get through. We’ve played a lot of games and there are situations where we need to improve. We have to get the best out of ourselves and go into the final stage of the season as best as possible.”
He also spoke about the controversial piece of play that saw Dani Raba hit the back of the net, but the goal did not count: “Gerard’s goal put us back in the match and I think that we managed to get the equaliser, but because of a strange decision, the referee didn’t let the game continue. They are situations he should explain to us because sometimes it’s out of our hands.”
