Villarreal, the third club with the best record in the history of the tournament

The Yellows Academy has a remarkable record in the tournament, having won the trophy on three occasions, making it the third club with the most titles behind FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The first time the Yellows were crowned champions was in 2007 after beating Real Sociedad in the final. The second title came in 2016, when a brace from Paco and another goal from Daniel helped them beat Atlético de Madrid in the final in Vila-real. The last and most recent title, won in 2021 against Sevilla, was also held at the Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa Cerámica.

In addition, in 2017 they also achieved a runner-up finish after qualifying for the final in the penalty shootout and being beaten by FC Barcelona with a 3-1 result.
