Villarreal B host Espanyol this Monday at 9pm CEST at La Cerámica
Villarreal B face a tough opponent in RCD Espanyol on Monday 9th October at 9pm CEST at the Estadio de la Cerámica. The Mini Submarine’s head coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared at the press conference ahead of the tough game, corresponding to matchday 10 of the current LALIGA Hypermotion season.
Here is what he had to say:
A demanding opposition
“The numbers say it, the games he has played and the squad he has. If you look at the XI he was using, except for Pol Lozano who was promoted with Granada, they are all players who come from the top squad. We’re going to try to compete well. They are leaders and they will come very strong. We will fight them with our weapons.”
Continuing the good run
“Good runs are important. The team is growing and picking up points. There is a clear objective that all the lads know, that one of the important points is to get points at home. Getting points away is very difficult for all the teams. That will bring us closer to our objective for the year.”
Opponent’s strengths
“They have scored 19 goals and conceded eight. It’s the moment they are experiencing in terms of results, but in terms of records they have counter-attacking, good positional play, set pieces… They have records to keep you in red. But we also have a few things and we’re going to try to make sure they come out on Monday. The lads are doing things well, we have to be patient with them, undoubtedly competing at a very high level. I want them to be a happy team and I want them to go for the opposition.”
Internationals
“It’s a personal satisfaction. It’s the youngest B team since I’ve been here and in the the second division. They’re going to have the chance to go a lot of places. They are going to have the chance to go to many places and sooner rather than later they are going to be noticed. We have a lot of players from 2004 and Victor from 2005. We have a lot of youngsters who could be called up by the national teams at youth level and who have a chance to go up in professional football. That makes us happy.”
