Villarreal B defeat UE Costa Brava and and stay top of their Primera RFEF group
Villarreal B looked impressive as they comfortably overcome UE Costa Brava (2-0), in what was a good performance from the Yellows. Miguel Álvarez’s side dominated the match from start to end and took the three points against the Catalan side. The goals were scored by Nikita Iosifov, in the first half, and Dani Tasende, at the end of the tie. The Mini Submarine got their fourth win in five games.
The Yellows started the match comfortably. As soon as the referee blew his whistle, the Mini Submarine’s players showed their quality and took control of the ball, dominating UE Costa Brava through good football. In the 23rd minute, the home team went ahead through Nikita, who was starting for the B team for the first time. The Russian winger capitalised on a brilliant ball into space from Sergio Lozano. He went past the keeper and sent the ball into the back of net with class.
The Yellows kicked off the second half full of hunger, regardless of enjoying the game thanks to the score. They had a number of chances to increase their lead. In the closing stages, Dela, with a header, and Diego Collado, after a breaking away from his marker, had chances to score, but they were stopped by the opposition goalkeeper.
In the 89th minute, the Mini Submarine scored the goal that sealed victory thanks to Dani Tasende. The Galician defender fired home a powerful effort after a set piece that surprised Marcos.
Villarreal B won and looked convincing against a competitive opponent, who were unable to find the formula to deal with the Yellows’ quality. The Mini Submarine will return to actoin on Friday, at 7pm CEST, against CE Sabadell at the Nova Creu Alta.
