Marcelino García Toral states that his team must perform at a high level against Celta on Monday (9:30pm CEST)
Villarreal CF coach, Marcelino García Toral, has said that his side must be at their best to win in Monday’s match against RC Celta at the Estadio de la Cerámica (9:30pm CEST). The away side have won both of their matches so far and have a host of dangerous players in their squad. In spite of this, the Asturian-born coach declares that his team will be ambitious and look to secure the victory in front of their supporters.
Analysis of the opponent
“I expect a difficult match against a dynamic team, that play well and draw you in to break quickly with players between the lines and making runs in behind. When they have the ball they are dynamic, and we have to perform at a high level. When we have the ball we have to ensure that they are under as much defensive pressure as possible. They have dangerous players up front, and Iago Aspas is in great form.”
Adaptation of the new signings
“If they are here it is because the club believes that they are good options to complement the team. They have been working and living with us for a very short period of time. The language is a challenge at the start, but we will try to shorten the period of adaption. We are happy with the players that have joined, we hope that with their work and our demands they can perform at a high level as soon as possible. They complement the team well and increase its potential.”
Ambition to win matches
“I believe that we have to be dominant, we have to see where we can create superiority and dominate. We would have liked to have had more of the ball against Sevilla, we did not and it created uncertainty and meant that we were further away from what we want to be, but we always have to maintain ambition, consistency, excitement and collective work, this helps when you don’t have the fluidity in your play. That is demonstrated when in the 95th minute we have four players in the area for the goal. We always want to play better, especially with the ball, and we have to think about getting that idea across always.”
Strength at the Estadio de la Cerámica
“It would be great for the fans to win, but we have to do more at home. We have to change the numbers from last season radically if we want to be higher in the table. We have a second chance to win at home, and it is an important match in front of our fans. Together we will be stronger. Seven points from nine would be very good.”
