Villarreal wins the first friendly of the Australian Tour
Villarreal managed to comeback on the score with an amazing performance in Australia against Adelaide United FC, a match part of La Liga World Challenge. The goals scored by Trigueros, Vietto and Gerard Moreno allowed the Submarine to neutralize Goodwin and Marrone’s goals.
Marcelino’s men had many scoring chances before Adelaide’s opening goal. On the 3rd minute, Trigueros passed the ball to Gerard Moreno, whose shot caused some trouble on Galekovic’s goal. Later, on the 12th and 26th minutes, Giovani could have opened the score but the goalkeeper and the post kept the goalless score.
The Submarine was performing well. After the first half hour, a brilliant play with a fast passing combination ended up with a pass by Giovani to Moi Gómez, who missed when everything looked easy. Too much scoring mistakes allowed Adelaide to get the lead, after its first shot on goal. A brilliant fastbreak by Cirio ended with a great cross shot by Goodwin. 1-0 for Adelaide.
The second half started with bad news for the Submarine. Adelaide scored the 2-0 with an accurate header by Marrone after a corner kick on the 50th minute. It was the second shot on goal for the Australians in the match. It was time to react. Manu Trigueros took advantage of a center pass from the right wing by Rukavina and scored the 2-1 on minute 62.
The best play of the match came on minute 85 and meant the 2-2. Cheryshev managed to leave his man behind with speed and passed an extraordinay ball to Vietto, who scored with an amazing header. The final 2-3 came with a genius pass by Vietto, this time for Gerard Moreno who scored with a clever shot to the right of Galekovic’s goal.
