The Cantabrian defender wants “the positive dynamic” back and to win “the last home match”
In today’s press conference, Villarreal’s Cantabrian defender, Álvaro González, highlighted that the Yellows will try to get back to winning ways against RC Deportivo de la Coruña (Sunday, 8pm CET) with the aim of securing a spot for European football next season: “After the defeat at the Camp Nou, we want to get back to winning. To get back to picking up three points because our opponents aren’t getting any easier. We can’t fail, two losses and this could pass us by. We want to secure our European football spot”.
Furthermore, the Yellows number 12 was steadfast and affirmed that only the three points will do this weekend: “We have to do our job, we can’t fail against Deportivo. Although they will come here wanting to make sure they stay up, we must do our job at home and finish with a win. It would be a huge step towards European football”. Lastly, the Submarine defender said he prefers to concentrate on “winning our game” and forget about rivals’ fixtures: “First we have to win, then we’ll see how the other games finish”.
