The Villarreal B head coach analyses the upcoming clash against Sevilla Atlético (Saturday, 9pm)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to V Play to analyse the build-up to the match against Sevilla Atlético, corresponding to Matchday 37 of Primera Federación, which will be played this Saturday at 9pm at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
The Valencian coach assured that the Mini Submarine are approaching this decisive stage of the season with great enthusiasm: “We arrive with desire and in a very favourable position to achieve a first objective that perhaps at the start seemed unlikely. It would be very positive for everyone to reach the play-offs and enjoy that experience.”
Albelda also highlighted the Yellow second team’s excellent run over recent months: “I think we are in one of the best moments of the season and the results reflect that. The team have grown a lot. One defeat in the last 21 matches cannot be a coincidence, although we must always be aware that any opponent can hurt you if your level drops.”
The Yellow coach also warned about the difficulty of the match: “We expect a tough game. They are a young team who will not take their foot off the gas even though they no longer have options of staying in Primera Federación. In fact, this week they drew with the leaders and not long ago they won in Ibiza. We have to approach it calmly, but also with a lot of excitement.”
He also highlighted Sevilla Atlético’s tactical versatility: “They are a team who have changed coach twice during the season and use different playing systems. They are very solid defensively, wait for their moment to hurt you and have very technically gifted players. We are talking about the B team of a top-flight club. I consider them very dangerous.”
Finally, he spoke positively about Pau Cabanes’ recovery: “Pau has been given the all-clear. After nine months out, we need to find the right context to give him minutes. Hopefully it can be this weekend. That step will also help him a lot psychologically to feel like a footballer again one hundred per cent.”
