Villarreal were winners in the U16 category and CD Roda won the U8 age group

Another Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter is done and dusted and it was one to remember. The tournament was held until Easter Sunday at the Villarreal CF and Pamesa Training Grounds (Ciudad Deportiva Miralcamp and the Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa), bringing together more than 15,000 people over the three days, with a great atmosphere all for the love of youth football.

The host teams, both Villarreal CF and CD Roda, lifted the cups in two age groups. The Yellows U16s beat Derby County (1-0) in the final, while the boys from the Yellows Academy almost won the U19s competition but fell in the final to the Aspire Academy on penalties.

For their part, our affiliated club, CD Roda, had a great tournament in the U8s age group, beating Atlético Puertollano 0-5 to take the title. The yellow and blacks also took the trophy for the U8s best player of the tournament, awarded to Adrian Burdeus.

The tournament winners for each age group were the following:

  • U8s: CD Roda
  • U10s: Real Betis Balompié
  • U12s: CE Manresa
  • U14s: CE Manresa
  • U16s: Villarreal CF
  • U19s: Aspire Academy
  • Girls: UD Pavía

Three champions  in other Easter tournaments!

As well as the Yellow Cup Easter, organized by Villarreal CF and Endeka Sports, the Yellow Submarine’s youth teams also put in some fantastic performances in other tournaments over the Easter period.

This was the case for Villarreal U19s who won the prestigious MIC 2017 (Mediterranean International Cup), where they were crowned champions after beating FC Barcelona in the final (winning on penalties after a 0-0 draw).

The Villarreal U14 A team won the ‘III Torneo Internacional de Roquetas de Mar’, where they beat Athletic Club (6-0) in the final. The Yellows U12s were champions of the Santa Ponça Cup de Calvià (Mallorca) after defeating FC Utrech from Holland in the final (2-1).

Lastly, the Villarreal U12 A team fell in the final of the Generation Adidas Cup against Málaga CF (0-3).
